Golkonda Fort
 
The Golkonda fort is located in the Golkonda village in Andhra Pradesh. This fort is one of the wonderful forts in India. The fort lies on the outer edge around 11 km from Hyderabad. The fort was built by Kakatiya dynasty in 1143. The village and the whole fort are located on one hill and it is about 400 feet high. The fort and whole village is surrounded by huge ramparts. After the Kakatiya the fort was ruled by Bahmani Sultanat. The fort fell in to ruins that are in the period of Aurangazeb.
Points of Attraction:

There are many things within and surround the fort which attract the visitors. The very important thing related to this fort is that the diamonds such as world famous Kohinoor, Regent, Darya Noor, Noor UI Ain, Hope are from this fort. Bala Hissar Gate is the main entrance of the fort. This door is very attractive. The gate consists of design of peacock and Lion and is the proof of Hindu-Muslim architecture. This door is at the east side of the fort. Another attraction is that Toli Masjid which is 2 km away from the Golkinda fort. This Masjid was built in 1671. This Masjid was constructed by Mir Musa Khan Mahaldar. The palaces, factories, water supply system and the famous 'Rahban' cannon, within the fort are some of the major attractions.
How to go there:
Golkonda fort is located near to the Hyderabad. Hyderabad is the capital city of the Andhra Pradesh state and hence is well connected to other cities. The distance between Hyderabad and the Fort is around 11 km. From Hyderabad there are number of buses and private vehicles are available to go towards this Golconda fort.
